Patrick Looney is the Chairman, Sustainable Energy Technologies Department at Brookhaven National Laboratory where he is responsible for BNL’s fundamental and applied energy research programs. A main focus of BNL’s effort is working with NYS utilities, NYSERDA, NYS Smart Grid Consortium and others to advance NYS REV and other related initiatives (e.g. NYPrize). Prior to this position, Pat led strategic planning for BNL. Before joining BNL, Pat was a senior staff member at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, and has also held several positions in research and standards development at NIST – where he worked for nearly 20 years. Pat has a PhD in Physics, and is a fellow of the AVS Science and Technology Society.
