Fellow Engineer – Technology Strategy
Curtis Kirkeby holds a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering (BSEE) from Montana State University and a Masters in Engineering Management (MSEM) from Washington State University.  He is a registered professional engineer in the State of Washington and has 34 years of experience in the electric and gas utility industry; 6 years in substation design; 18 years in GIS, outage management, asset management, advanced metering systems including meter data management systems, and engineering modeling; and 10 years in research and development.  Mr. Kirkeby was the principal investigator for the Avista subproject of the Pacific Northwest Demonstration Project and currently fulfills the same role for the Vanadium Flow Battery Energy Storage Project in Pullman, WA.  He was recently awarded the title of "Fellow" by Avista and is currently responsible for applied R&D and innovation.
